Siemens Image Intensifier

I went to visit Capt. Norberto Tapia last night at the Makati Medical Center and saw this weird looking contraption at the elevator. The unfriendly staff of MMC told me that it's an Image Intensifier.

"X-Ray Image Intensifiers are converting and amplifying a minimum amount of X-ray quanta into visible light providing high detail and high contrast images. Shortly after X-ray image intensifiers were invented, Siemens started to develop their own intensifiers."

New goodies in the Technews Lab

We have new laptops, desktops, mp3 players, printers, A/V equipment and a lot more, but still the star of the Lab for more than two weeks now is still the iPhone. It never failed to elicit a “WOW” from the people to whom I have shown it. But being the gadgets section of the newspaper, Technews should not revolve just around a phone that could not even make a phone call YET. So whether I like it or not, the iPhone that I am using now is on its way to its original packaging and off it will go to one of our shelves beside the PS3 and Wii.

Below are some of the latest gadgets in the Technews Lab.

Me holding the CX7EK

Inside the office of ECY with the Sony HDR-CX7EK. The unit is very fresh from the box, see the product info tag dangling :). It comes with a free 4GB memory stick duo plus another free 4GB memory stick duo from our source in HK.

The Xacti E1 shoots standard definition H.264 movie. It can fit up to 10 hours of video in a 8GB memory card. The unit is submersible to a depth of five feet for 60 minutes at a time. I will be testing this unit next week when I go to Cebu :).

iPhone wows NSM

Yes, I have an iPhone

I got my iPhone on July 3, 2007 but I only got the chance to open it on July 7. Photo shows the iPhone on my desk being charged using the iPod Nano charger.

annalyn.net in the iPhone

This is what annalyn.net looks like when viewed in the iPhone. The Web browser of the iPhone gives you a full web layout. You can scroll with your fingertip, double-tap to enlarge a portion for easier reading and viewing and flip the the screen 90 degrees, and the web page you are viewing also rotates and magnifies to fill the landscape view. Finally, you can magnify a Web page by spreading your thumb and forefinger on the glass. The image grows as if a rubber being stretched.

The making of Technews

Pete and Badong

beeper 150

I was cleaning my desk and found this, my number was 150-620496 :). The pager then was the hi-tech way of sending messages instantly. The operators of Easy Call that time were very arrogant that I have decided to switch to Piltel's Beeper 150. The paging service in the Philippines died when SMS messaging came into the picture.

go.blogger.com

There's a cute jingle in the go.blogger.com website about mobile blogging. It says... "Snap a photo and type some texts, send it to blogger and we'll do the rest." :)

Map your memories

The Sony GPS-CS1 is a device that records the position where photographs are taken. The exact position where your photos were taken could be located with the help of google map. This device was so hot in Japan when it was launched last year that it was already sold out thru pre-orders and reservations even before the actual release of the product.

Say it with pictures

You can post online anything that you've taken using your mobile phone instantly. Using the latest Sony Ericsson mobile phone with mobile blogging capability, posting pictures in the Internet has become very easy.

A mobile blog, is an online record of anything you would like to post online, contents that you would like to share with the rest of the world. The difference between mobile blogging and regular blogging is that you use your phone to post text and/or pictures. You don't need to have a PC to mobile blog. Whenever and wherever you feel like posting a picture, all you need to do is shoot and send.

The latest phones of Sony Ericsson have the capability to mobile blog, it has an editor that allows users to take pictures and put some texts, it's like creating an MMS message. After taking a picture, just choose "Blog this" from the MORE option. You can then post your photos for the rest of the world to see.
